Trip!

Every three months, I am required by my company to take two days off from work and go on a vacation. It's a nice perk and we took full advantage of this opportunity.

We have been thinking of where to go for weeks, if not months, and it was a really hard decision. Hungary is surrounded by amazing places that all seem to be the same distance away. We researched different places and finally came up with our plan. We would drive through Austria, into Germany, and then to the Berne, Switzerland Temple.

Our plan was to leave on Tuesday, April 30th after work and start driving as the next day was a national holiday that I got off from work as well. We ended up leaving on Wednesday, May 1st and didn't make it all the way to Switzerland, but we had an amazing time and I loved Austria and Southern Germany. We drove over 1,000 miles and I would do it again tomorrow if I had the chance. Here is a outline of our itinerary which we will be posting more in depth in the coming days and weeks. We took A TON of pictures like the one below:



Wednesday May 1, 2013 (Day 1)

Drive through Slovenia and into Austria
Stop at Lake Hallstatt, Austria
Stay the night in Salzburg, Austria

Thursday May 2, 2013 (Day 2)

Drive to Berchtesgaden, Germany and walk through the town
Tour the former Nazi compound in the mountains just outside of Berchtesgaden
Drive to Oberammagau, Germany and stay the night

Friday May 3, 2013 (Day 3)

Walk through the Pilgrimage church
Tour Neuschanstein and Hohenschwangau castles in Fussen, Germany
Stay the night in Oberammergau, Germany

Saturday May 4, 2013 (Day 4)

Tour Linderhof Palace
Stay the night in Salzburg, Austria

Sunday May 5, 2013 (Day 5)

Breakfast at top floor of hotel with a panoramic view of Salzburg
Walk to the Salzburg Fortress
Go to Mozart's birthplace
Walk through Mirabell Gardens
Walk through Salzburg Cathedral
Visit Klessheim palace
Drive home to Kaposvar

This is the route that we ended up taking. Counting Hungary, we were in 4 different countries (Hungary, Slovenia, Austria, Germany), traveled over 1,000 miles, and had a great time.
